How to Extract Images from a Word Document
Once an image is embedded in a Word document, there is no direct way to extract the image for re-use. However, you can save the image as a web page, separating the component parts out of the document as files. So you have a pesky Word document with embedded images that you want to reuse somewhere else? Here are step-by-step instructions:
1. In Microsoft Word, simply go to File > Save as Web Page.
2. A ’save as’ dialog box appears. Make sure the ’save as type’ is set to ‘Web Page (*.htm; *.html)’. Save the files to a convenient place on your computer (i.e. your desktop).
3. Close Microsoft Word and locate the place where you saved your files. (In this example, the desktop)
3. You will now find a single *.htm file on your desktop (or whatever folder you have saved to) next to a folder of the same name. For example, if I saved a file from a Word document titled, “My Real Estate Advice”, it would save a single file called, “My_Real_Estate_Advice.htm” next to a folder also entitled “My_Real_Estate_Advice”.
4. Double click this folder. You will find all of the extracted images from the Word document. From here you can use them any way you wish!
