How to Insert a Widget / HTML into a Post / Page

There are many times that you might be browsing a popular site (Zillow, weather sites, etc.) and you will see a link to “add widgets” or “banners”. Generally speaking, this is an easy thing to insert into any of your posts or pages. However, occasionally this method may not work depending on the type of code and technology they are asking to insert. If you have tried the method outlined below without success, contact us and we will do our best to find a solution!

Here are the basic instructions for inserting a widget or any HTML code into a page or post on your website:

1. The originating site should provide you with the initial code for the widget or HTML – copy the code from the original source. (If you are not familiar with copying and pasting, see our guide to keyboard shortcuts here.)

2. Go to your website to insert the code you just copied. You may insert the code into an existing page/post or you may use a new page/post. Completely up to you!

3. Once you are on the write/edit screen for the page/post, switch over to HTML mode. You do this by clicking on the tab labeled “HTML” next to another tab labeled “Visual”.

4. After you have switched to HTML mode, simply place the cursor where you’d like the widget or HTML to appear and paste in the code you copied from the originating source.

5. Save or update your page/post.

6. Go to your website to view your page/post to verify that the widget/HTML has been added correctly!
