WordPress Site Maintenance

In order to keep your website running optimally, it is necessary that you perform some routine maintenance at least 4 times per year. The official WordPress site recommends you create a reminder and list of what you should do. We have outlined below some easy steps on how you can do this yourself.  If you are not comfortable following these steps or just don’t have the time, you can contact us for a quote to do the work when you need it.

For complete peace of mind, we offer a WordPress Maintenance Service. Not only will we perform all the tasks below, but several other tasks to keep your site properly backed up and running. For more information check out our WordPress Maintenance Service Add-on.

Backup your Site

As a precautionary measure, please take a moment to backup your site before you start to make any changes / updates to your site or plugins. This way if something goes wrong, you can put things back the way they were. One of the Premium plugins we install on your site is called BackupBuddy (if you have an older site and this plugin is not installed, simply let us know and we can install it for you at no charge).

  1. Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Go to BackupBuddy (located in the left side navigation bar) > Backup
  3. Select Complete Backup. Depending on the size of you website this may take between 2-10+ minutes.
  4. That’s it…just wait for it to complete.

Once the backup has been successfully created, move on to the next recommendation.
