We recently read this great article titled “SEO Isn’t What You Think It Is” by Veronica Fielding. Focusing on the new direction that SEO is taking, it explains how Google has made some very key updates to its search engines in the last two years. These updates, code-named Penguin and Panda, were designed to make it difficult to fool technology and simply fill your website with content. Words alone won’t do it – connecting with people is the key to good rankings. The article stresses that to receive top rankings you must also be engaged in social media platforms.
Your real estate blog is a great platform on which to build a strong online presence while simultaneously creating relationships with clients. The article focuses on many other social media avenues to utilize, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Google+. “All of this social media activity works to create engagement around the brand by what has always mattered to the search engines most: people” (source).
The beauty of this approach is that as you focus on your online audience you will simultaneously be increasing your SEO rankings. We encourage you to read the article and see for yourself.
